I have had this problem exactly once, which was two days ago (after
months of using Communicator 4.04). I have no idea what caused it that
one time, but it hasn't happened again (hope it never does). It being so
apparently random leads me to think it was something external to my box,
though I haven't the foggiest what it might have been. I was online at
the time, and all I was doing at the instant it froze was reading email
-- scrolling through a message (and I do that a *lot* on this list!) I
gave it 15 minutes to think about it, and when the screen saver didn't
come up I said my prayers and hit the button (no damage -- WHEW!).

good luck.
