Haven't you heard or IRIX and all of those high-end silicon graphics
workstations? They're out there but they're expensive and many have not
yet been ported to linux. UNIX has been plagued with the old mindset
that it has to be hard and expensive; it was never made for the PC like
DOS/W$. Also there was the problem with compatibility between unix
variants, things were not nearly as standardized a few years ago as they
are now. Linux is making tremendous progress and I really think that
most companies like oracle are underestimating it, it has great
potential, all we need to do is BREAK bill gates resource sucking
stronghold to open things up again.
