Allright - this seemed like a problem for the installation mailing list, but
not much seems to be going on there, so here I go:
I have a Pentium 100 with a 6.4 gig Western Digital drive running Win95 and
NT. I have installed RedHat 5.0 successfully in the past. Now I want to
install a fresh copy of 5.1.
Everything is fine, however, until I get to package installation. I pick to
install all packages, but when I get to emacs, I get RPM errors, and the
installer exits. If I install everything but Emacs, everything goes fine
for a while, then other packages start giving error messages, leading to the
eventual exiting of the installation program.
I've downloaded 5.1 four times so far, using three different FTP programs in
binary mode. I've also tried using the direct install from FTP feature, but
the installation gets stuck at the "./dev" package.
I've gone through three sets of boot and supp disks, and I've tried freeing
up almost 600 megs on my archive drive (the drive which contains the
installation package) but I can't get it to install. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Christopher Gorski
