What I use is a cron job to run fetchmail on my local account ( I only
use one, but you can just set up a crontab for her account as well - it
all goes yo your local mail spool )
I leve my ppp running 24/7 since I have unlimited time ( much to the
dismay of my ISP - but a contract is a contract - however I'm getting
frequent carrier drops now <grin> I think they hope I'll go away if
they do that long enough )
Assuming diald is working on your system, the crontab calling fetchmail
should hit the tcp/ip stack and call out to your isp then finish, and
time out when it's done. Mine is set for 5 minute polls from several
differnt mail servers ( 2 school accounts, an ISP, and a few others )
These all feed back to my local account, I send outbound mail from my
ISP's address at the moment because I haven't figured out a way to have
it send mail back as comming from each of the accounts at the other
servers.
