I didn't use fips when I installed Linux, but as far as I know you can't change the partition type without blowing away data (I could be wrong). I have a problem mounting my extended partitions in Linux (windows thinks they are ok, but Linux fdisk says they are messed up. The only solution I could come by is to wait till I get back to school and back up my data on friends' computers and reformat windows using linux fdisk.
