Subject: Window Managers
| I am dying here. If you guys have not noticed, I am kind of a
|newbie. Actually been in UNIX for years but have decided to switch to
|Linux just because I really enjoy working with it.
|
| Anyway, now I am trying to get any WM to work and I just am not
|having any luck. Wanted to try E, but the ftp site is down...besides
I
|tried downloading from RedHat and rpm'ing it, but it had some
dependents
|I could not find anywhere.
|
| Ok, so I tried KDE...which I have had great success with...I
|even have a TI laptop running KDE and it works great, but I can't
seem
|to get it to work on my workstation quite right.
|
| Tried WindowMaker....which I really wanted this one to work out,
|but I could not get it to work either. At this point I pulled out a
|razor and stuck it flush to my wrist. Dependencies suck. AND TRYING
TO
|FIND THE RIGHT LIBS IS IMPOSSIBLE! For anything...
|
| So, here I am. I have finally got something to
|install....AfterStep -- rpm'ed fine. No dependents....but I cannot
start
|the thing. I cannot figure out how to start it. I am drowning here.
Any
|help with any of the systems would be appreciated and of course any
web
|addresses with help on getting wm's to run :)
|
| Thanks, in advance you know.
