So despite some efforts it currently doesn't build on i386 (this is a
somewhat recent problem, as it has worked there in the past).

Given how long this port has been sitting in wip, I would much rather
mark it BROKEN-i386 and fix it in tree, since that will allow amd64
packages to happen sooner rather than later.
