here is the (hopefully) final version of the chocolate-doom port.
installation is fixed on machines without python as was noticed when make fake
was failing due to a script trying to call python to regenerate already-   
generated manpages. Additionally I have added a pkg/MESSAGE file which
outlines the basics to get yourself going with the game including where to
place the IWADs, and also that you can install audio/timidity for a free
upgrade to Doom + Doom music.

Now I must live with the burden of having deprived Paul of sleep ;)
