catching up after 2 weeks without working e-mail (oh, the irony!), i
don't really like changing upstream defaults. diffs for the pkg-readme
to explain behaviours/settings can be reviewed/accepted, depending on
the outcome of the said settings.

personally (and since ~20yrs), i use mutt for everything
personal/oss-related, and thunderbird for work, and i dont remember ever
having to fiddle with about:config knobs, i just use plaintext in
thunderbird.
