You are right. It is already confusing enough when researching those
settings. You will find bug reports and lots of discussions where
application versions are mentioned, when a setting has been introduced,
default behaviour changed or whatever. Nowhere will you find information
about if OpenBSD is affected or what is different on OpenBSD. Better not
make any OpenBSD specific changes in addition. Just some information in
the package readme would be just fine to at least get users started.
