Great, Can you try building something with xelatex/fontspec (to get documentatopn type "texdoc fontspec". xelatex is a drop in compiler that should build your normal latex/pdflatex files. You should be able to render any font "installed" (~/.fonts for nix) on your system. I ask becuase i havent had a chance to test jonathans patches on amd64.
