Hi, I don't know if there is much point as this thread is turning into a bit of a flame war but I will add my 2c.
I asked a friend of average computer literacy what she thought of the remaining time on her laptop and if she understood that it isn't accurate. She said it's an important feature for her. With no prompting she explained that it is just an estimate based on what she is doing now. When reading email the time will be more then if she was watching a movie. On the weather analogy the accuracy of the remaining time on my laptop is FAR more accurate then the local weather forecast. Please all accept my apologies in advance for not adding to the content of the conversation with this mail (I guess most arguments are on the table now anyway so it's getting nowhere IMO). Now, Sebastian definitely has a point even if it's not directly relevant to the content of the thread. Although I definitely understand and agree on your position regarding remaining time (already stated that, and it's definitely not popular[*] for some reason), I have to admit that the mails in this thread are getting aggressive and the one Sebastian was referring to was in my (non native speaker) opinion looking borderline insulting. Of course, I can understand why you're getting aggressive... As I said earlier people are kind of obsessed by this "remaining time" lie, and this thread is like preaching in a desert. Still that doesn't allow *anybody* to become aggressive. I'd like to emphasis *anybody* here, as I've seen quite a share of participants in this thread becoming overly aggressive. Sorry for the noise. Regards. [*] And making software is definitely not a popularity contest. -- Kévin 'ervin' Ottens, http://ervin.ipsquad.net "Ni le maître sans disciple, Ni le disciple sans maître, Ne font reculer l'ignorance." _______________________________________________ Plasma-devel mailing list Plasma-devel@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/plasma-devel
