The finish seems tough and the build quality seems very good. It doesn't have the cheap and cheerful plastic feel of most AF lenses. For landscape and general photography, it is superb. If anything, it is too sharp for portraiture. I put mine onto an extension tube one day to see how it would work, and was happy with the results. William Robb
