Hi Everyone - I think Glen's idea is great. I, too, enjoy the discussion and have learned much about photography and cameras from the list(but usually am afraid to contribute too much for fear of sounding photographically challenged), and I especially enjoy the wonderful photos in the gallery each month.
Me: Kathy Leickly. I live in northeast Ohio and am the administrative assistant to the President/CEO of a large hospital in the area. I have three grown daughters: one is an artist/graphic designer who lives in the Pacific Northwest, one is an architect who lives in the Chicago area, and one works part-time and goes to college (and still lives nearby). I have always been interested in photography (mostly admiring the work of others). Got my first Pentax (a ZX-50) for my daughter's wedding four years ago. About a year or so ago I started getting serious about photography, taking photography classes and going on workshops and have learned a lot (with still much more to learn). I love nature, so I sort of "focus" on the outdoors and nature/landscape photography. I enjoy hiking and taking my camera gear and tripod on long treks in the area national and state parks. Sometimes I take my bike, but find it kind of difficult with the tripod. I also enjoy some of the area photography clubs and have learned a lot from the other members. My favorite camera is a PZ-1p, which I got in February, and I still have my first "real" camera, the ZX-50. Also, I just got a used Olympus D-620L (older SLR digital) and am enjoying it, but don't think digital will replace my Pentax 35 mm. in the foreseeable future. I like to dabble in PhotoShop and am trying to learn the program from several books (and phone calls to my daughter for explanations). I would eventually like to learn how to restore old photographs. In addition, I really enjoy computers, but I am very disenchanted with Microsoft and will probably end up with a MAC sometime down the road. That's it in a nutshell. Hope this didn't bore everyone.
