I don't see any damage to the lens or the lens mount. I have three of the four
legs pulled loose. I don't know how I did that, but ...
I expect I'll be sending mine to precison in the next couple of days. I'd like
some feedback from the list.
I still have the original Ricoh Pentax K-1 box. I'm thinking of packing the
camera in that, along with a single battery and then packing that box inside of
a shipping box, but before I do ...
Mainly I want to know whether I'll get the Ricoh Pentax K-1 box and the battery
back if I send it in that way? Should I include a memory card? I have a spare
256MB card that I won't be devastated if I lose it.
What's y'all's experience with their turn-around?
I checked with my local Pentax guy & he is no longer stocking Pentax (although I
think he can still order from them - he's just not carrying it in stock) I was
thinking maybe picking up a used K-1 for backup if he had one, but all he had
were a K-5 & a K-7.
KEH currently has the K-1 listed as "Out of Stock". They don't have ANY Pentax
digital cameras right now.
Ebay don't look pretty right now either, so it looks like my only option in that
direction (having a spare) is a new one from B&H.

Back when my K-1 was still quite new, I had it on a seat next to me in a bus,
the camera started to slip off, I grabbed for it, just barely got ahold of
one corner of the display. I slowed the full, the lens snapped off its mount
(another story) and the display extended out with 3 of the 4 “legs” still in
place. I fiddled with it, couldn’t see how to just pop the connector on the
loose leg back in place, and eventually sent it to Precision. No lasting
damage except to my wallet.

I tripped & fell and somehow managed to rip the display off the back of my
K-1. Instead of hanging by 4 legs it's now hanging by one. I can't see any
damage to the little cable that connects the display to the back of camera
body, but the display is not working.
It turns on & the auto-focus "appears" to work.
Also broke the plastic rim around the eyepiece (that holds the rubber piece
in place).
I don't think I broke anything on me.
