John,

I thought that's why Alan [semi-]jokingly wrote "Pentax street legal".

Bill,
I suspect that at that time there were no Pentax DSLRs, and maybe even
no Pentax digital cameras (possibly with the exclusion of the medical ones)?

I would have thought that the spirit was to allow all Pentax cameras (with any lenses) and all Pentax lenses (with any cameras/camera backs). This looks like a decent Pentax optics, on par with the earlier P&S's if not better,  doesn't it?

... And I won't be anal about Pentax medical imaging devices. :-)

I've seen two of them at the VA Hospital in Durham, one down in Radiation Oncology and one just this last week in the Ear, Nose & Throat clinic.

The doctor in ENT used it to look at my sinus (post surgery followup).

But I think the unit they had down in whatever department where you have to go for for colonoscopy was an Olympus - I really didn't get that close a look at it because I was already sedated and very soon after I got in there I was asleep.

I'll try to remember to take photos next time I have an appointment in Radiation Oncology or at the ENT clinic.
