John,

I thought that's why Alan [semi-]jokingly wrote "Pentax street legal".

Bill,
I suspect that at that time there were no Pentax DSLRs, and maybe even
no Pentax digital cameras (possibly with the exclusion of the medical ones)?

I would have thought that the spirit was to allow all Pentax cameras (with any lenses) and all Pentax lenses (with any cameras/camera backs). This looks like a decent Pentax optics, on par with the earlier P&S's if not better, doesn't it?

... And I won't be anal about Pentax medical imaging devices. :-)

Cheers,

Igor

Wouldn't it technically qualify as a "Pentax Lens", so you'd be able to
submit
iPhone photos to the PDML PUG Gallery if you used it?

It would be using the letter of the law to circumvent the spirit of the law.
When I inserted that clause into the submission guidelines, cell phones
barely existed, much less had but in cameras.
