Read a story in the local paper that the long boat from Norway was being
charged $9K (USD) daily for a pilot to navigate the Great Lakes while in US
waters !

Meg and I spent much of yesterday at the local stop of the triennial Tall
Ships Challenge. I am not sure what the Challenge involves, but for us it
was a day amidst vast throngs gawking at sloops and schooners and one
galleon and one Norwegian Viking longboat. A long line to get into the
venue, even longer lines to get aboard any of the vessels so we passed on
that. ’Twas a good day.
For others near the Great Lakes, note that they will be stopping also in
Chicago, Green Bay, and a few other places.
