If it's true that a diplomat is a man who's sent to lie abroad for his country, then they have the perfect man. He's a serial liar who deceived the electorate for the sake of his personal ambition and ego. I suspect this appointment is part of a deal that was cut to get May into number 10 as soon as possible so that the UK could look vaguely stable again.
