If it's true that a diplomat is a man who's sent to lie abroad for his country, 
then they have the perfect man. He's a serial liar who deceived the electorate 
for the sake of his personal ambition and ego. 

I suspect this appointment is part of a deal that was cut to get May into 
number 10 as soon as possible so that the UK could look vaguely stable again. 
The reactions of countries who are our friends are unprecedented; at the first 
blunder he'll be banished to some forgotten wilderness and they'll appoint 
someone serious.
