I'm a fan of Canada - except for certain culinary un-delights
Fun photo here, too! (Dynamite shot, even, you might say) ann On 7/1/2015 2:51 PM, Knarf wrote:
On July 1, 1867 the BNA Act (of the British Parliament) granted the former colonies of Upper and Lower Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia limited independance: the Dominion of Canada was born. Until the 1960s our flag was the Red Ensign, a Union Jack on a red field with the shield of Canada thereon. Even as a kid I thought it was humiliating. After considerable debate, in 1965 we adopted the current Red Maple Leaf flag, which I thought as an eight year old, and still think now, is the most beautiful flag in the world. I will admit to some bias in that regard. Here in New Toronto we celebrate that anniversary and Canada Day with this clever trompe d'oeille mural: http://knarfdummyblog.blogspot.ca/2015/07/fifty-for-flag-happy-canada-day.html?m=1 For all it's faults, Canada's a pretty damned good place to live. For all my criticisms of it, this one day of the year I allow myself a bit of patriotism. Happy Canada Day! Taken with phone cam, processed and posted from phone. Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome. Cheers, frank
