Does mfr. really enter the picture? :) I love my 24MP APS-C Sony NEX-7 because it gives me 24MP results in a form factor that lets me carry an extremely light weight kit, that depending on my purpose, is superior to carrying a DSLR and the larger/heavier lenses.
On the other hand, I love the D800E and the FF 36MP results I get with top rated Nikon lenses some of which are very heavy, especially so combined in a backpack - heavier than anything I ever lugged with a Pentax, but worth the effort in my opinion.
