For those of you that might be interested. The following is from the Focus
Project website:
The Competition
The Focus Project seeks to launch the careers of the best emerging
photographers while looking for the most compelling and dynamic photographs
out there. You take amazing photos: we invite you to share your work and
show us the world through your unique lens.
Throughout the course of The Focus Project, selected photographers will be
prominently featured on our homepage and will have a chance at life-changing
awards, world-wide acclaim, a red-carpet New York City reception and more
than $75,000 in awards to fund your passion: taking incredible photos.
Everyone who participates in The Focus Project will be given the tools to
gain international exposure for their work. Every Focus Project photographer
will receive a sleek online portfolio that can be found in our searchable
database, discoverable by editors, agents, enthusiasts and collectors.
We love photography. It's time to focus on what matters most in our lives.

I would suggest you read the Terms of Use very carefully. You're
basically granting them full rights to your work "until you remove or
delete it".
It's weasel worded enough that anything they "copy, distribute,
transmit, display, perform, reproduce, edit, translate, reformat, and/or
incorporate into a collective work" before you remove it is theirs to keep.
Distribute is a *BIG* word. If you agree to their terms of use, they can
sell your submissions and don't have to give you a dime.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, that they would treat you that way or
that you shouldn't participate if you want to, but be aware of what
you're getting in to.
