I guess I can see that... I find it fascinating how differently the camera is perceived based upon so many variables. For me (all-green images from something being broken notwithstanding) the K7 is a marvelous camera and a great step up from the K10D. Weird.
Charles, I think I said so a number of times, but I can repeat. The 'wow' factor that I experienced going from *istD to K10D was so tremendous (for lack of less loud word) that it seems to be felt even now. The click between me and my K10D was instant. I remember a number of issues being discovered with the camera along the time. I was not moved by that at all. I installed the Katz Eye screen and was very happy camper. It is really a brilliant camera. It was very easy, actually a no-brainer not to upgrade to K20D as I did not see any specific advantage over K10D except ISO range but it was said that K20D wasn't very noiseless either. I succumbed to the heat that was all around the internet prior to K-7 announcement. Limited camera for limited lenses kind of bullcrap. You surely remember that. K-7 improves a number of aspects over K10D as a photographic machine. The subsystem that takes pictures is really a step back. Of course it depends on who's talking and from what perspective. Indeed, Paul is right that good images can be obtained from it. But he's also right saying that K-5 offers serious advantage and frankly, I kind of expect that the 'wow' factor I might experience when and if (nothing is certain yet, of course) I get my K-5 can be similar to that of K10D.
Many said that differences in sensors between similar cameras of Nikon, Sony, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Panasonic are not that big. I thought so myself until just today that I saw those pictures Paul showed. Even though they are not full size, etc, they show a number of things that make me completely agree with Ralf - K-7 should never have been. Pentax should have either used the same sensor as in K-x, but at least not the one they chose to use.
