While better than the K10D and K20D, playing with the K-7 didn't impress me as being much more to my liking. I'd have to shoot with one a while before I knew how my hands reacted to it after accommodation, but I didn't get the same "ah hah, this is nice: everything is right where I want it" feel that picking up the Olympus E-1 or E-3 the first time gave me. The *ist DS was the closest to that feeling for me. Besides that, one minor thing remains an irritant to me on all Pentax K-bayonet bodies. It's a silly thing, but I hate having the lens release button between the grip and the lens ... I like it on the left side of the body outboard of the lens. I always felt all thumbs when changing lenses on my Pentaxes because the button just isn't where I expect the lens release to be. (Leica Ms have the same in-board position for the lens release, but I never changed lenses on a rangefinder with the frequency I do on SLRs so it didn't bother me as much.) No amount of practicing ever seemed to be able to make my hands fall naturally into the right place with the Pentax bodies. You're right, though: I'm not looking to change systems any time soon. I'm very happy with my current equipment, bodies and lenses both. The E-5 addressed all the things I needed beyond what the other bodies I have already provided ... and then some. It and my present lens kit will be the basis of my work for some years to come. -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
