The FA 100 hurts a lot when you drop it on your foot. The 77 much less. I find the FA100 is an excellent general purpose things-out-of-reach lens; inside at the zoo, flowers, stuff across the room, etc. It's not unobtrusive and it's not a particular good portrait lens and cleaning the front element is an unmitigated pain because it's deeply embedded in the casing. The 77 is surprisingly unobtrusive and makes a good candid portrait lens.
