Seems like a very sensible decision - someone mentioned the Tamron
macro as an alternative.  I can give some insight on that.  My first good macro 
was the
FA 100/2.8 Pentax lens.  It was a very good lens - I didn't have any
real complaints with it.  At a later time I bought the newest Tamron 90/2.8
AF 1:1 macro.  After using it, it seems to be every bit as good as the FA
100/2.8 and perhaps slightly better for non-macro use.  It is
certainly lighter, smaller and easier to handle.  Bokeh seemed just a
little smoother.

Now I can't tell you how it compares to the newer Pentax DFA 100/2.8, but 
thought I
would let you know my experience.
