Yes, it seems our two parts of the globe have a lot in common - for all the wrong reasons!
Bad as last weekend was in Victoria, the death toll (now approaching 200) comes nowhere near the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. As an aside, I've just finished reading James Lee Burke's book "The Tin Roof Blowdown" which is set in New Orleans during and immediately after Katrina. The magnitude of that disaster seems almost unbelievable.
