First, congrats on the gear. That's a great outfit.

Interesting photos - looks like you're going to produce some sharp images if you mix the size with the fine grain. Long ago I used PanX and TriX for most of my b&w shots, developed in Microdol, d76 if I had to. Since I assumed my colors long ago (lack of space for my own lab, too expensive to buy the quality from third party labs), can't comment modern options. Some interesting stuff can be achieved with TriX and pull development (expose as 200 iso, shorten development time by some factor depending on the developer used). Hey, sorry if this is old...

One particular pic I'd like to comment is the tree with the leaves in the foreground - the foreground is to cluttered to my taste, and the degree of defocusing doesn't help. Often I find no foreground is better than the wrong foreground, but I keep trying - and I think a different subject in the first plane would improve that photo very much. By all means keep using your cameras... and showing the results.

Well, I finally got around to posting some photos from the first roll (Ilford Delta 400) I shot with my christmas present: a Mamiya m645 with an 80mm f/2.8.

I definitely have a lot to learn, but I think the images have a nice /quality/ about them.

Most of the portraits were taken using a Pentax AF540 flash, set to Aperture priority, ISO 400, with the body set to 1/60 and f/2.8, /4.0, or /5.6 aperture, depending on my desired depth of field. This seems like cheating to me, but hey, it seemed to work. :) The exterior shots were from the Leslie spit, down by the water in Toronto, and I used my *ist DS as a meter - that was clearly less successful, and I'd like to pick up a cheap meter or AE prism to make things easier.

I'd really like to explore high and low ISO b/w film now. Don't really know much about available 120 film, anything I should try out?

Comments, criticism and suggestions solicited!
