Jack's criticism got under my skin, I don't know if I can do better, but I can do different.
Slightly different color balance, (more green, more natural wood tones in the stumps). More apparent detail in the Egret. Slightly less noise reduction, (not that there was much to begin with). http://www.mindspring.com/~distilfink/PESO%20--%20egretfishingiia.html Note: I used Raw Therapee for this attempt, rather than Raw Shooter Essentials which is my usual raw converter. Mainly because it's better at extracting borderline details from the brightest portion of an image. RSE however has a much better work flow not that anyone cares about a discontinued product. I then created two intermediate tiff files one exposed for the bird one for the background and blended them together, sort of a HDR image from one exposure. The crops are slightly different and I corrected the tilt as the water was going to run out of the pond, but anyone interested in comparing the two images can do so, the link below is the old one. Yes in many ways this one is much better, but I really liked the color of the original, cartoonish though it may have been. As usual comments are welcome but may be totally ignored.
