I've been wondering that myself. We spent a few days in the Leadville Colorado
area a dozen or
so years back. I think we were close to 12,000 ft where we were camping, and
even pounding tent
pegs into the ground was an adventure.
After a few days though, we aclimatized, and when we made the run south into
New Mexico, the air
actually was uncomfortably thick at around 8,000 ft, to the point where I had
to stop the car
and just sit for a while to let my body get used to having oxygen again.

Great series of pictures, Subash.
