Hi Godfrey, I can only speak for myself, but I really don't think I am envious. Her photography, with one exception*, leaves me cold. She has a high concept, but in the effort to smooth every wrinkle out of the execution, for me wrings all life out of the result. And I have read through A Photographer's Life. A well meaning friend gave to me as a gift. I alluded to this in a previous post. When the high artiface of her commerical work is removed, it reveals...well nothing much. Her Sontag photos, aside from the appalling lapse of taste that allowed her to publish them which Sontag, were she alive, would have forbidden, leave me with no insight other than shock value. Again, I wouldn't lecture you, Godfrey, these opinions are my own, but I am not alone in this feeling. http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2006/11/18/leibovitz/ D * that exception - of course the John and Yoko shot. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.iinet.net.au/~derbyc -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
