Around here, the K10D costs 30-40% more than the Canon D400 or Nikon D40x. It's also slightly more expensive than the Nikon D80, but cheaper than the D200 or Canon D40. I think what you are seeing may just as likely be Pentax Imaging Company, USA pressing margins as the mother company running with low profits. I'm not sure about the exact ownership structure and/or how the earnings of the USA company affects the bottom like of the group or main operation, but I suspect some people here will know. And I'm also wondering what the pricing structure of companies like Adorama or B&H Photo may be like... - Toralf > > Tom C. > > > > > > > > > >> From: Adam Maas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >> Reply-To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> >> To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> >> Subject: Re: Hoya-Pentax Future - News >> Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2007 13:17:34 -0400 >> >> Tom, the K10D costs about the same as the other manufacturer's mid-line >> models, not the bottom end (which are priced similarly to a K100D for all >> but Canon, and the Rebel XT is overpriced).
