I have one very slow, Dane-elec card. Shooting wildflwoers last weeks it 
was pretty noticeable when that card was in the camera, vs one of the 
Transcend of Sandisk Ultra III's.

I usually shoot a cluster of shots hoping to catch the flower when the 
wind is still, then evalute and try again if needed. With the Dane card 
I saw no difference in the shooting, but a full buffer could take a few 
seconds to copy onto the card before I could look at the previews.

With the transcends getting so cheap I don't see any reason not to got 
with them - they are slightly slower than the Sandisk Extreme III, but 
hardly noticeable.
