William, I did not follow the whole thread but some at DpReview managed to hack the header of the firmware allowing one to downgrade from 1.11 to 1.10 (in fact 1.10 with hacked header) and then official 1.10 firmware.
One may like or dislike the method but thought I should mention the possibility.
