Pentax doesn't have an 18-200 equivalent available for the APS sensor 
yet anyway.  I think that you'll find that most super zoom lenses will 
have a fair amount of distortion no matter who makes them.  It's just 
the nature of the beast.  You should really take a look at the Tamron 
before you decide it has too much distortion.  I've found that many 
reviewers don't understand the difference between the normal rectilinear 
view you see in a very wide angle lens and real problems like barrel or 
pincushion distortion.  The other possibility is a two zoom kit.  The 
Pentax Kit lens (18-55), is supposed to be pretty good and inexpensive. 
  Just add a longer but not "super" zoom to the mix.  I find a couple of 
shorter zooms, for a two zoom kit I favor the smc Pentax 20-35 f4 and 
the smc Pentax 28-200 f3.8~5.6, the latter is a super zoom but the APS 
sensor improves it immensely.  If you could get the Pentax 18-55 you 
could get the same focal length coverage by adding the Pentax 50-200, 
it's supposed to be very good, (lots of people here seem to like it), 
and it's not that expensive.
