The delay in the release of K10D is giving Pentax time to tweak many things including the AF speed etc. >From the reaction of folks in Japan who actually went to see the camera and samples, I can tell that they were favourably impressed and very few people expressed any concerns over the high ISO performance. A lot of people were anxious about the high ISO performance but it seems to be at least as good as K100D's or perhaps even better. In the recent shows, Pentax let people take pics with K10D. I believe they could not take the memory card back home but Pentax did let those folks print the images on the spot. I am sure a lot of people took high ISO photos and they apparently liked the results. Many brought their K100Ds for comparison, and while these on-the-spot floor comparisons are not really scientific ones, again they were satisfied. Remember Pentax exhibited ISO1000 and 1600 images (no lower ISO samples at the show), which I interpret is their show of confidence. They also exhibited the comparison images against the other brand's camera (same 10mp) which I think is Sony's and everybody could see the difference. Pentax were telling people that the real excellence lies in much finer gradation and tonality etc which made the stark difference from the competition's image. They also told the visitors that they did not purposely tried to eliminate the colour noises etc (if you want to suppress them, I am sure you can adjust the setting), but rather left the film-like qualities in high ISO samples. They apparently said something to the effect that K10D is the first camera which renders the distant outdoor sceneries in extremely high fidelity. Well, I know there is no point in speculating on the performance of the camera which is due so soon, but I noted the very favourbale acceptance of K10D indicated by those who actually handled it and compared the images.
