It's also worth noting that there's a *lot* of stuff in firmware 
completely unrelated to image quality. People seem to automatically 
assume the worst: That a firmware change means they're desperately 
trying to fix a problem with noise or color cast or banding or 
whatever. Most of the firmware updates we've seen in the past (from all 
manufacturers) are more mundane operational issues.
