I have over 20 years in product engineering and lived
With marketing guys on my back all that time. Heres
How it works : When (and if ) you add or remove features
>From products, the bottom line is, does it ADD ( or remove )
VALUE to the potential customer(s)? You don’t add features
That customers DON'T want or need and you don’t delete features
That DO customers want or need. Its that simple. My opinion
On this whole matter is clear. I think it ( the cam sensor type AE)
should be still be available ( not removed ) on the top line Pentax DSLR
model(s)
And the retail price adjueted accordingly.

Sorry, but this is not how it works. The linkages is not regarded a
feature
that can be sold to the customer. It is an expense that do not increase
sales but decrease profit. Eg the SR feature probably double or
quadruple
the potential sales of the K100D; very much worth the added cost.
None of the competition offers more extended backwards compatibility
than
Pentax anyway so it is very likely that Pentax doesn't feel they are
loosing
anything by removing the linkage.
