>From an electronics engineering standpoint (for which I am qualified)
there really isn't the d-range available from APS sized sensors to
fully utilize more than 16 bits, sensors may improve over time but at
a guess by no more than 1.5 stops (and that's likely pushing it) and
that's for the same density. Any more dense and the specs only get
worse, it's just a fact.
