Not noticeably, as far as the Rebel is concerned, at least compared to 
the *ist-D/Ds, the K100D is supposed to have improved autofocus.  The 
Rebel is an 8mp camera, the K100D is 6mp but has in camera shake 
reduction, the same feature requires special, (expensive), lenses on the 
Canon.  The upgrade on the Pentax would be to the 16-45mm which is by 
most accounts a better lens than the Canon.  The Pentax Kit lens is 
supposed to be a better performer than the Canon kit lens as well but I 
have no direct knowledge of that.
