I've heard that complaint, but I have not experienced it -- I've shot about 
20,000 frames on my DS2, significantly more than half of them with either the 
A* 400 2.8 or the A* 200 2.8 wide open, and I've found the focus indicator to 
be very accurate and useful.  However, when shooting with such narrow depth of 
field you've got to remember that possibly ONLY the part of the subject that 
you focused on will be in focus -- if you pointed the sensor at the subject's 
belt buckle, that's no guarantee that his eyes will be sharp.
