Which, in itself, is amazingly good news. It wasn't that long ago that many people were giving Pentax up for dead, and predicting the immediate demise of the company. Not to mention the nay-sayers decrying Pentax's obvious move towards the mass market, and suggesting that the only way Pentax would remain viable was to spend vast amounts of research and development money to create a camera that would sell to maybe half a dozen buyers :-) (Unfortunately no two of those potential buyers could agree on the specifications for the wonder-camera, though.) Now, Pentax have done far better than even the most optimistic here had predicted, and come up with a camera that can sell in numbers large enough to show up when viewed on the same page as Nikon/Canon. That's a pretty good vindication of Pentax's marketing strategy, and something that would have been though impossible a year or so ago. Couple that with the positive postings from those fortunate few who are privy to the secrets of the soon-to-be-announced K10D, and it's apparent that Pentax is doing more than a few things right. Of course, there will still be those who aren't satisfied. But I don't think even a full frame K1D, complete with aperture coupler, would be enough for some of the complainers. Not that they'd ever actually spend the money on a new camera, or course - it's a lot more fun to just sit on the sidelines and hurl brickbats. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
