Hmm. I presume you've checked all the grounds and they're all good, and there's power going into the ignition module when you're cranking on the starter. If the tachometer is electronic, disconnect it as a test. VFRs have always been extremely popular in the San Francisco Bay Area so I wouldn't be surprised if there were several local salvage yards that had parts like this available. A google search for '"cycle salvage" santa clara' in this area brings up too many possibles to list here, give it a shot. You might also research what other models used the same ignition control module as your '86 VFR to broaden the search. These are often standard components re-used with a number of different models and pricing often varies by the model ... The part numbers might be slightly different, often they're exactly the same. VFRs are considered a high end bike, market pricing wise, and parts for VFRs often carry a hefty premium, particularly for 750cc models in that time period. You might also look for aftermarket suppliers of ignition units for the model. Godfrey -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
