I absolutely do, yes. > I just mentioned the former as an aside in any case. But the conclusions that people are coming to are quite wrong. > Well, what I and others have been trying to say is that judging from > the > used prices the demand would seem to be very high, i.e. there is > something here that just doesn't add up. Could it be that nobody asks > the warehouse because everyone believes the lens is discontinued? More like when a customer goes into a store and wants to special order the lens they are told they must pay for it up-front because the store cannot sell it if the customer does not buy it. Customer balks, lens is never ordered. Last time I saw Pentax Canada's catalog, it still listed a great many A-series lenses that they had in stock that had been out of production for more than a decade. >> This fussing about availability by people who don't intend to buy >> strikes me as ridiculous. >> >> > Or maybe I might want the 1.7 after all, if it is sufficiently cheaper > than the 1.4. Now, you do agree that I shouldn't have to order one in > order to find out what the price is, or if it can actually be supplied, > don't you? Why would you have to order it to find out the price? Any store that tells you such a thing is idiotic and is trying to lose your sale. What store told you that? All they have to do is call or e-mail their local Pentax distributor, who may have to call or e-mail Japan if they don't have stock locally to check on availability. The FA 50mm f1.7 was cheaper than the FA 50mm f1.4 but around the same price as the F 50mm f1.4 when I checked in March. I didn't consider the 1.7 because of that. -Aaron -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
