I freely check the accuracy of shutter speeds with my own tester. It has caused me to send bodies to Pentax for repair a couple times. Obviously, I must remove the lens and open the back to allow the test beam access to the shutter. How could a DSLR shutter be tested? Wouldn't be a major concern for many. If you don't know any different, it's fine. Major problems would eventually reveal themselves. Problems beyond PS fixes.
