It works the other way round too: pre-focus and wait for the (not too fast :-) moving target to come into focus.
Glad you are sorted. I still get the same problem with my cameras, but now immediately know what to look for :-) The SFXn and Z-1p (and other cameras I don't own :-) have a servo mode, whereby the camera AFs when it can but releases the shutter anyway if pressed. I never use it, but others (Cotty?) swear by it.
