An M 4/200mm can be had quite cheaply. So can many a 135mm lens. I had a
Vivitar 2.8 once. It was better than my A 2.8/135mm and cot me 40 USD. I
must say that i believe a zoom is the best for this job, since the distance
to the taget will vary a great deal. How close do you want to get?

I think the split-screen is bad enough with a long lens; if you also
do stop-down metering it could be very difficult.

I doubt 200 will be long enough, but I haven't done airshows, so...
