Hi!
Sunday there is an air show in Bucharest - I thought I should go
there, and maybe try to take few snaps.

However, I have no ideea where to start - e.g. which focal lengths are
(at least, barely-) suitable, if I'll need something fast etc.
Also, I'd really appreciate any advice you can gave me regarding this
kind of photography.

Btw: what do you think about Takumar 200mm f/5.6?

I shot at the Hillsborough air show on the outskirts of Portland Oregon using an 80-320 on a ZX-5n. I know you wish to avoid zooms, and I wish I could have done with a prime too, but couldn't justify the cost of a nice fast long prime. The 80-320 did ok.

Then more recently I shot an air show at the Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles. For that event I used the same 80-320 on my *ist-DS. With the crop factor I was much happier with the lens. It actually seemed to be almost adequate in focal length.

I guess what I'm getting at is that you will probably need greater than 300mm focal length for most airshows; at least for the in-the-air shots.
