Hi Bill,

I've been on two Leica lists, this list, and the Rollei list. Of the four,
this one seems to be the most vocal at expressing dissatisfaction, the
Leica lists second by a w-i-d-e margin, and rarely have I heard much
kvetching on the Rollei list. There are, however, some distinct
differences between our list and the others. The other cameras are, for the
most part, older designs - when was there an updated Rolleiflex that last
came out - and rarely is there a new camera from Leica. If there is, it's
just a slight modification from the older ones. Pentax, OTOH, is a more
vibrant company in that there are new models coming, higher technology is
being used, and, I think, the list membership, for the most part, WANTS to
be more leading edge than trailing edge. That's not to say people on the
Leica list don't want, for example, a digital camera - they certainly do,
and many have moved to Canon in order to use their Leica lenses. Perhaps
the Leica list might now best be called the Leica Lens List considering how
many of the membership have moved to digital cameras (Canon and others,
including the Pentax istD and istDS).

PS: For those who care, here are a number of asterisks to use as you see
fit to replace some of the letters in Canon and Leica:
