Basic geometry Alan. If the bottom of the mirror is not in the
correct spot, then the top will not be either. Nor will the
middle. I suspect if Giafranco checks, he will find his focus at
the middle of the screen is slightly out. This can be checked
quite easily with a focusing screen at the film plane. My
service guy tells me that the top pivot point of the LX mirror
is also adjustable, though not easily. It is, apparently,
calibrated at the factory, and gives very few problems. It is
the bottom rest that is problematic with the LX.
Anyway, it is certainly worth bringing the mirror into alignment
with the bottom adjuster and checking for critical focus at the
film plane prior to having the camera stripped for a major and
expensive overhaul.
